May 14th, 2019, while I was attending an event at the Lethbridge College showcasing a project my team and I have been working on, I get a call from the College saying my Diploma is ready for pick up. I run to the Office of the Registrar to finally see this document I have been waiting for. I look at the Diploma and ask myself, now what? What’s next?
I updated my resume and changed from “Expecting to graduate on…” to “Gratudated on…”. While I already had some job interviews scheduled, I still actively applied to other positions with my updated resume. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get a job anytime soon.
Surprisingly, a call after another, I had 3 job interviews scheduled back to back in the same week. The first one went well, the interviewer said they will contact me for the next step. The second one was a long phone call, the interviewer was then going to send me the time for the in-person interview. The third Interview, the lucky one, went very well, same day I had both the behavioral and technical interview, and I got a call later that day to give me a verbal offer.
May 24th, the day of my birthday, I receive the written job offer. Very excited, I sign it. The next day, I receive a call from the first company I interviewed with, inviting me to move forward with the job offer: sorry I already accepted another offer. Then a week later, I received an email from the second company inviting me for a in-person interview : sorry, too late, I already accepted another offer.
This is how 1 week after I graduated, I had a job offer, and later another job offer, plus an invitation to a second interview which would have most likely ended with a third job offer.
